What does 3FOUR50 have to do with chronic disease prevention?
We believe that a collaborative approach involving many different audiences is necessary in order to stem the global epidemic of chronic diseases. 3FOUR50 will facilitate partnerships, collaboration and action among experts, leaders, innovators - from a variety of sectors - and anyone genuinely concerned with chronic disease prevention. It will also allow new audiences, such as young people, to become engaged in the debate and work towards common solutions.
Why is it called 3FOUR50?
The name represents the Oxford Health Alliance's key message: 3 risk factors - tobacco use, poor diet and lack of physical activity - contribute to four chronic diseases - heart disease, type 2 diabetes, lung disease and some cancers - which, in turn, contribute to more than 50 per cent of deaths in the world. However, by addressing the risk factors, many of these deaths could be prevented.
Who owns 3FOUR50?
No one and everyone who genuinely wants to combat the growing epidemic of chronic disease. Whilst it is an Oxford Health Alliance initiative, the idea is that this site is owned by you, the user.
How is it different from the OxHA website (www.oxha.org)?
The 3FOUR50 website is different in two very fundamental ways. First, this is all about a big conversation... between every user. Secondly, you have the opportunity to shape its content. By adding your blogs, stories, information etc., or by telling us what you want to see, you can make the 3FOUR50 site your own.
What does 3FOUR50 offer?
3FOUR50 will offer an opportunity for people from different target audiences to work together in a common space, a first-rate resource centre for anyone wanting to find out about the impact of chronic diseases and see what's being done around the world to help prevent them, and a place for people to share their experiences and success stories.
What will 3FOUR50 aim to achieve?
3FOUR50 unites individuals and organisations with a story to tell, provides a platform for members to showcase their work and work together on new projects, highlights best practice in the area of prevention and promote each of OxHA's focus areas - business, design, economics and youth - to a variety of audiences across the globe. Ultimately, the goal of 3FOUR50 is to become an awareness-raising and action-based online social network
Who is this site aimed at?
3FOUR50 is aimed at anyone wanting to take positive action to help fight the chronic disease epidemic.
How can I get involved?
It's easy! Anyone is welcome to visit the site and participate. Whether it is to have a look around, upload blogs, photos, ideas, videos, share best practice - whatever! The main thing is that everyone has the opportunity to participate.
Do I have to be registered to participate?
Yes. You can read, watch or listen to anything without registering but if you want to post a comment, add files, showcase your work etc..., you will have to register. We do this as a deterrent to those who might wish to spam.
Do I have to be a member of the 3FOUR50 Network?
You only need to be a member of the 3FOUR50 Network if you want to contact anyone else in the network or build a 'shared working' space with them.
