Food and Drink Federation Reception 2010

Held in the House of Commons on July the 6th 2010, the turn out was impressive but the speeches were somewhat lacking in diversity. The effect of impending economic instability on agriculture and food production was the majority focus. Despite health and nutrition being left at the door beside black coats and empty champagne bottles, the Food and Drink Federation has not in the past been ignoring attempts to bring companies and organizations to beneficial understanding of health and chronic disease prevention. The general mission, with regards to companies maintaining “healthy living” assistance for their employees, has been given great emphasis in the past by the Food and Drink Federation. However this was not reflected at the reception. It appears the shiny new MPs are more interested in keeping the agriculture industry content than the thousands of people dying from Chronic Disease in UK, directly related to food and drink. Despite the immense efforts by Chronic Disease fighting organizations in the UK, the political stance that is being set appears be to carefully ignoring this problem. But then again food was nice.
