Prior to forming MATRIX PHC, she held positions in both academia (Yale University School of Medicine) and the public sector (City of New Haven). Her work to date in the area of evidence-based practices has led to policy reform in health and human services delivery at the local, state and national levels. The populations impacted include children and youth with special health care needs, homeless persons, adolescent substance abusers, public housing residents, and persons living with HIV/AIDS. Her current work focuses on translational research (i.e. adapting evidence-based practices for communities) involving comprehensive strategies for the prevention of chronic disease. She received her PhD in chronic disease epidemiology from the Yale University School of Medicine, her master’s degree in neuropsychology from University of Otago (New Zealand), and her undergraduate degree from McMaster University (Canada) in biology and psychology.
