Dr Dov Tamir (Israel) works at Ben-Gurion University, where he is the director of the Health Promotion Unit at the Faculty of Health Sciences. He has initiated successful chronic-prevention projects in Israel, among them a comprehensive school health programme in Jerusalem, a programme for the prevention of smoking in adolescents, a healthy lifestyle programme for the Bedouin community and successful TV health education programmes for young children. He has been the director of the Department of Health Promotion and Education of the Ministry of Health and adviser to the General Director of the Ministry on Health Promotion.
He is participating in the Oxford Health Alliance’s Community Action Projects.
His areas of expertise include:

- Workplace prevention - theory and practice
- Multisetting programmes
