The urgent challenge to global health and development resulting from NCDs was highlighted at a meeting in Geneva in May 2009, hosted by the International Diabetes Federation, the International Union Against Cancer and the World Heart Federation. The panellists were;

Dr Ala Alwan, Assistant Director General for Non-Communicable Diseases and Mental Health, WHO:

Sir George Alleyne, Chairman Caribbean Commission on Health and Development:Minister Marie-Pierre Lloyd, Minister of Health and Social Development, Seychelles:Professor Rifat Atun, Strategy, Performance and Evaluation Cluster, The Global Fund.
